Published octobre 20, 2024

Uncontrolled intrusion of other users, violation of your privacy and irritating contact are the main reasons why the word ‘how to mute someone on TikTok’ is becoming so popular in Google search results. It’s easy to see why knowing how to block people on TikTok is becoming a necessity for gaining a better social media experience.

Fortunately, this is something you can often solve by sight alone. You’ll usually find a simple three dots on that person’s profile.

However, if this is not an option, there are some other ways you can block another user. Read on to figure out how to block someone on TikTok who does not have a three-dots option.

Method 1: Blocking through Comments or Messages

If you can’t find the three little dots under a profile, you can still block someone by going to their interactions. You can either do this through their comments or messages.

How to block through Comments:

  • First, make your way to a video where the person has previously commented and search for their comment.

In particular, this comes in handy if you simply want to ban a bot, or a very irritating troll who keeps on commenting irrelevant and harassing content.

  • In practice, most often, that means looking at the top of the conversation, where there’s a three-dot menu from which you can select the block option.
  • Now, tap Block or Report from the options on the menu.

Method 2: Blocking through TikTok Settings

If you’ve tried and seen that you can’t block the account in their profile, comments or messages, don’t worry. You can still do it from the TikTok settings. Here’s how to do it:

  • When you open up the TikTok app and click the Profile symbol at the bottom right corner.
  • Look for the hamburger menu icon (three horizontal lines); click it and select Settings and Privacy from the menu.

Then you just have to add this person to that list. Next to the report button, you will see a ‘+’ icon. Press on that and then find the username of the person you want to block.

This method provides a centralised way to maintain your block list and add names when required.

Method 3: Blocking through the Reporting System

Now, on TikTok, you can actually block people who have been repeatedly violating community guidelines. This sometimes means an account that is simply saying dirty messages to you, posting a comment about you that’s harmful or being abusive in some way. Here’s how:

  • Go to the menu, select Report, and then state your reasons for repeating the user.

As soon as the report goes through successfully, you block the user immediately. You simply need to click on the Block button, and job done.

Emballer

As you can see, you don’t really need the three dots to block a TikTok profile. Nonetheless, these methods we’ve shown you should only be used if the account violates a TikTok rule. So, think twice whenever you report an account.
