The link in your Instagram bio isn’t just a URL, it’s a powerful tool for connecting with your audience and guiding them to your most valuable content. Whether it’s directing them to your latest blog, product lists, or your portfolio of work, that link in your bio is your ticket to connecting with followers outside of Instagram.
A link in your Instagram bio can change how you interact with followers, and help you grow your business. You used to only be able to add one link, now you can add five. If you’re not sure how to add a link to your Instagram bio, we’ve got you covered!
Step 1: Choose You Links Wisely
When Instagram first allowed users to add a link to their bio, they could only choose one. Since April 2023, users can choose up to five links for their Instagram bio. Typically, users will use the link in their Instagram bio for:
- Personal websites
- Event pages
- Product links
- Amazon storefronts
- Fundraiser links
Keep in mind that you can change the links at any time, but can only have 5 for users to choose from. Make them count!
Step 2: Copy the Links
Once you have your links, it’s time to put them in your bio. A good rule of thumb is to add all of the links to a document and make sure they are clickable before adding them. That way, you can copy and paste them right into your bio.
Step 3: Add the Links to Your Instagram Bio
Next, you’ll need to add the links to your bio.
- Open up the Instagram app
- Head to your profile
- Select Edit Profile
- Click on Links
- Select Add External Link
- Copy and paste one of the URLs
- Select the blue tick
- Select Done
- Continue these steps for up to 5 links to add to your bio
Once you’ve completed these steps for all of the links you’d like to include, you can head to your profile page and click on them to ensure that they work.
Tips for Adding a Link to Instagram Bio
- Be Strategic: It should go without saying that your links should align with your current Instagram strategy and goals. For example, if you’re trying to increase traffic on your blog, add a link to it in your bio.
- Use a Link-in-Bio Tool: While you have five slots to choose from, you may have more links you want to include. There are tools such as Linktree that give you the ability to add multiple links under one URL. This gives your followers a concise place to explore all of your links.
- Keep Your Links Updated: It’s important to do regular audits of your links to make sure they are up to date and are sending followers where you want them to go.
- Include a Call-to-Action (CTA): Pair your links with an enticing CTA to increase your chance of clicks by creating a sense of urgency.
Wrapping It Up
If you aren’t utilizing links in your Instagram bio, you should be. Choose links carefully, and make sure you encourage followers to click on them. You should see an increase in engagement in no time!
