TikTok Now, with its emphasis on spontaneous and authentic content, has become a popular feature on the platform.
While it offers a fun way to connect with friends and share moments, it’s quite easy to send in a Now post that might be unflattering to you. Those posts will have to get the boot but don’t worry, we’re about to show you how to do it.
Understanding TikTok Now
Before diving into the deletion process, it’s essential to grasp the concept behind TikTok Now. The feature came up as TikTok’s response to BeReal. That social media app encouraged users to capture and share photos of their day using both the front and back cameras simultaneously, going viral in 2022. TikTok wanted a piece of that action and in came the Now feature.
This feature was rolled out in September 2022 as a separate app in some countries and packaged into the TikTok app in others. Its spin was the addition of a ten-second video that was also captured from both cameras simultaneously.
Key Features of TikTok Now
TikTok Now has some traits that make it fun and distinct from the other features of the platform. They include:

Deleting a TikTok Now
To remove a specific TikTok Now from your feed, follow these steps:
- Access your TikTok Now: Open the TikTok app and tap on the Friends icon at the bottom of the screen. This should open up your recent Now post, but if it doesn’t, tap on the Now tab at the top of the screen.
- Locate the TikTok Now you want to delete: Find the Now you wish to delete and tap on it.
- Tap the share icon: This is located at the bottom right corner of the TikTok Now.
- Select the delete option: In the menu that appears, you should see a trash can icon representing the delete option. Tap on it to delete the Now post.
The Fate of TikTok Now
TikTok Now, as promising a feature as it was, didn’t last long on the platform. It was scrapped in June 2023, nine months after its September 2022 launch.
The official word from TikTok was that it was “updating the TikTok experience” and discontinuing the feature without a clear explanation.
However, it’s clear that this was related to the downfall of BeReal. BeReal’s fame was short-lived, and with them fading fast, there was no need for TikTok to keep supporting its half-hearted attempt to replicate BeReal’s functionality.
As of today, TikTok Now has been taken off the platform, and there doesn’t seem to be any chance of a comeback. All our fun times with the feature are simply memories, as we continue to live in the now.
