TikTok’s draft feature is a convenient tool for saving video ideas as you brainstorm ways to turn them into masterpieces. However, over time, these drafts can accumulate, cluttering your workspace and potentially hindering your creativity. This isn’t helped by the fact that drafts are stored locally on your device, which means that if your device gets filled up, you’re restricted from making more drafts.
Here’s a simple guide to help you clear out your TikTok drafts so you can regain control of your creative process, or you know, fill it up again with more drafts.
How to Access Your TikTok Drafts
Follow these steps to find your saved drafts on TikTok. Unlike many other social media apps, there isn’t a separate ‘Saved Drafts’ tab in TikTok’s settings.
- Open the TikTok app: Launch the TikTok application on your device.
- Navigate to your profile: Tap on your profile icon at the bottom right corner of the screen.
- Locate the Drafts folder: On your profile page, you’ll find a collection of all your posts on the app arranged in the order they were posted from the most recent to the oldest. However, you’ll notice that the first entry at the top left isn’t your latest post. That is your drafts folder.
- Access saved drafts: Tap on the Drafts folder to view your saved videos. You can now see all your potential candidates for deletion.
How to Delete Your TikTok Drafts
TikTok has made it pretty easy to delete drafts on the app. Here’s how it’s done:
- Access your drafts: Follow the steps above to locate your drafts.
- Select the draft: Select the draft you want to delete by tapping on it and holding it. This takes you into the selection mode where you can now tap on any other drafts you wish to delete and add them to the selection.
- Delete the draft: Look for ‘Delete’ which is written in red at the bottom of the screen. Tap on it to delete your draft. Press ‘Delete’ again to confirm, and your draft is gone.
Other Ways to Manage Your TikTok Drafts
While deleting your drafts is a quick way to create space and reduce clutter, it isn’t the only way.
- Backing up drafts to the cloud: You can try backing up your drafts to the cloud. By this, we mean iCloud for iOS users and Onedrive for other platforms.
Granted, these services offer limited storage and can take a while to upload, but they ensure that you can delete your drafts and clear space confidently without bothering about the videos being lost.
- Backup your drafts: If a draft is particularly important, you can try saving it to your device’s camera roll and then transferring it somewhere else. That way, the draft is safe.
- Regular review: Periodically check your drafts to ensure they are still important and free up some space if they aren’t.
By following these steps, you can effectively manage your TikTok drafts and maintain a creative workspace. Review your drafts regularly to ensure they remain relevant and delete the ones that aren’t. That’s easy to do now, isn’t it?
