It’s no news that Instagram has seen a couple of transformations since its releases in 2010 (IOS) and 2012 (Android), respectively. However, some of these changes aren’t the most refreshing, with the start of the 2020s marking a new era of reels and suggested content.
This may seem like a welcome development in certain areas. For example: you get to explore more from creators, and content creators also have their reach boosted, etc. However, it also means your Feed gets scrambled.
On the bright side, having your Feed filled with suggested content and seeing less of what you enjoy are not unsalvageable issues. The question is, how do you fix these issues? How do you fix your Instagram feed? Read on to find out the easy steps you need to follow.
Restoring Your Feed on Instagram
It was back in 2021 when Instagram started focusing more on activities like shopping, messaging, and video content. All this meant that Instagram users no longer saw the posts they logged in for, but again, you can easily fix that.
Essentially, there are two basic methods to follow that’ll get your Instagram Feed back to what it was. These methods revolve around refreshing, sorting, and purging. Read on to understand what we’re saying.
Method 1: Snooze Suggested Posts
This is one of the simplest methods to follow. You can choose to rid your Feed of suggested posts so you don’t have to deal with content you don’t want. Here’s what to do:
- Once you spot a suggested post in your Feed or Explore page, click the “three dots” on the top right corner of the post.
- Select Not Interested.
- Another menu will pop up, and select Manage content preferences.
- At the bottom of the menu that follows, you’ll see the option to Snooze suggested posts for 30 days.
- Once done, you’ll no longer see suggested content for the said period. The only drawback is that you can’t snooze content permanently, so be sure to revisit those steps every 30 days.
Method 2: Choose What You See on Your Feed
You also have the power to control what pops up on your Feed down to the specific accounts they come from. You can do this by choosing to see posts from people you follow or accounts you’ve added to your Favorites list. Here’s how to go about it:
- Tap on Instagram at the top left corner of your homepage.
- Select from two Feed settings options: Following or Favorites
- For your Favorites list, you can add up to 50 Instagram accounts and control who you see posts from. This method is great as you’ll never miss a post from your favorites, including family and friends.
Other Tips for Fixing Your Feed
You can also choose to do the following to manage what Instagram displays on your Feed:
- Purge accounts: Once you feel an account drops too many posts or is posting content you don’t like, you can always go to your Following list and cut them off.
- Refresh feed: You can pull down on the homepage to refresh your Feed for new posts.
Wrapping Up
Instagram is still the fun app it’s always been, and suggested content sometimes opens doors to new and interesting pages. However, if you feel your Feed is becoming unrecognizable, be sure to follow the steps above for a quick fix.
