How to Link Instagram to TikTok

Published March 9, 2024

With so many social media platforms to use, it can be hard to choose. It can also be frustrating taking the time to repost content to each platform. The good news is that you can link accounts across platforms to make that process easier.

If you have TikTok, you can link it to Instagram to cross-post video content and expand your reach. This not only streamlines the content-sharing process, but also leverages cross-platform audiences. This article provides a comprehensive guide on how to link Instagram to TIkTok and best practices.

Linking TikTok and Instagram

To link Instagram and TikTok, you’ll need to do so from the TIkTok app. Here are the steps to do so.

Step 1: Update Your Apps

The first thing you need to do is make sure that both the Instagram and TIkTok apps are updated to the latest versions. Keeping up to date on your apps will ensure that your apps don’t disconnect and cause posting issues.

Step 2: Open TikTok and Navigate to Profile Settings

Once your apps are updated, open the TikTok app and head to your profile page. Once you’re on your profile, tape the three dots or lines in the top right corner to access privacy and settings.

Step 3: Find the ‘Edit Profile’ Option

Once you’re in the settings, select Edit Profile. This is where you’ll be able to customize your TikTok profile and link external accounts.

In the Edit Profile section, you’ll find the option to link other social accounts. Click on Instagram. You’ll be prompted to log in to your Instagram account. Enter your Instagram username and password. If you’re already logged into the Instagram app on your device, TikTok may automatically find your login information.

Step 5: Authorize the Connection

Next, Instagram will ask for your permission to share your information with TikTok. Make sure it’s only sharing information you’re comfortable with, then select Authorize.

After you’ve authorized the connection, you’ll be redirected back to TikTok. Your Instagram username should now show up on your TikTok profile, typically under your bio. To test it, click on the link to see if it takes you to your profile.

Step 7: Share Content Across Platforms

Now that your accounts are linked, you can easily share content between both apps! When you create a TikTok, you’ll be given the option to share it directly to your Instagram Story or Feed.

With your accounts linked, you can now easily share content between TikTok and Instagram.

Tips for Posting Across Platforms

Consistency is Key: Maintain a consistent username and branding across both platforms. This helps your followers easily recognize and find you.

Cross-Promote Content: Use the linking feature to cross-promote content, encouraging your TikTok followers to check out your Instagram, and vice versa.

Engage with Your Audience: Engage with comments and messages on both platforms. A responsive and interactive presence boosts follower loyalty and growth.

Final Thoughts

The bottom line is that linking Instagram and TIkTok can greatly improve your content strategy. With the ability to cross post, you can expand your reach to new audiences. Happy posting!
