Instagram Reels have become a captivating way to share short, engaging videos. Businesses and creators use these reels to reach a large audience, building their brand and visibility. However, some creators also leverage Facebook for their content.
Facebook is the biggest social media platform in the world, boasting over 3 billion monthly active users. It is also owned by Instagram’s parent company, Meta. Now, there are two primary ways to share your Instagram Reels on Facebook:
- Direct Sharing After Upload: Instagram has implemented a feature that allows you to easily share your Reels on Facebook after posting on Instagram.
- Direct Sharing As You Upload: This allows you to share a single reel to Facebook as you post it on Instagram.
- Automatic Sharing of All Reels: This feature allows all your posts on Instagram to be shared to Facebook simultaneously.
Before sharing an Instagram Reel on Facebook, you should know that these features require your Instagram account to be linked to your Facebook profile in the Account Centre. Once that is done, you can proceed.
Method 1: Direct Sharing After Upload
This method only applies to Reels created after October 2021, when Instagram introduced the direct sharing feature. Here’s how to do it:
- Open the Instagram app: Ensure you’re logged into your account.
- Navigate to your Reel: Locate the Reel you want to share on Facebook and tap to open it. You can find it in your profile under the “Reels” tab or by searching for it in your feed.
- Tap the Three Dots Menu: Look for the three-dot icon located beside your Reel.
- Share to Facebook: A menu will pop up with various options. Select “Share to Facebook,” then tap “Share,” and it’s done.
Method 2: Direct Sharing as You Upload
Instagram also allows you to share your Instagram Reels on Facebook as you post them. Here’s how it’s done:
- Open your Instagram app and tap on the plus icon at the center of the screen.
- On the new screen, swipe right and select “Reels.”
- Record your video (up to 90 seconds) or choose existing clips.
- You can use Instagram’s editing features to add music, effects, text overlays, and transitions. Once you’re done, press the “Next” button at the bottom right.
- On this new screen, you get many options to customize your reel further. Get to the bottom of this menu and tap “Share to Facebook.”
- Toggle the slider to the On position.
- Once you’re done, tap “Share,” and your reel will be posted on both platforms.
Method 3: Automatic Sharing of All Reels
With this feature set up, all your future reels are automatically posted on Facebook simultaneously. We’ll show you how to do it.
- Tap on the profile photo at the bottom right of the screen to open your profile.
- Tap on the hamburger menu icon at the top right of the screen to open the “Settings and Activity” menu.
- Tap on “Sharing and Remixes.”
- Scroll down to “Sharing and Recommending Reels on Facebook” and toggle the switch to the ‘On’ position. With this, all your future reels will be sent to Facebook instantly.
Sharing your Instagram Reels on Facebook allows you to expand your audience and reach new viewers. So, make some captivating Reels and leverage the power of both Instagram and Facebook to boost your brand.
