If you’re an avid YouTube user, you surely already know all the advantages that come with having an account. It allows you to like content, leave comments, subscribe to channels, and upload your own videos.

However, having an account also comes with certain privacy risks that you should be aware of. For example, logging into your profile on public computers or leaving your own devices unattended can result in others accessing and misusing your account.

That is why logging out of YouTube when you aren’t using it is a smart habit that can save you from a lot of trouble. To that end, we have compiled all the essential information you need to sign out of your account on all devices. Read on, and take notes!

  2. Click on your profile picture in the upper right-hand corner.
  3. Select Sign Out from the drop-down menu.

And that’s all. You should note that if you’re using Chrome as your default browser, this action will log you out of your Google account on Chrome as well.

Matters become a tad more complicated for Android users. Namely, it is not possible to sign out of your YouTube profile without simultaneously logging out of every other Google service you might be using. These include Gmail, Sheets, Docs, and Hangouts, among others.

If you wish to proceed anyway, follow these instructions:

  1. Open YouTube and tap your profile picture in the upper right-hand corner.
  2. Tap your account name located at the top of the screen.
  3. Select Manage accounts.
  4. Find Google on the list of accounts and tap it.
  5. Click on the Google account you wish to sign out of.
  6. Tap Remove account.

In the event that you simply want to use YouTube privately, turn on the Incognito Mode option within the app. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open YouTube.
  2. Tap on your avatar in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
  3. Select Turn on Incognito.

By switching to incognito mode, you’ll be able to browse without the app tracking your history. However, bear in mind that you won’t be able to like or comment on videos, subscribe to channels, or post content.
