How to Switch Accounts on Instagram

Published March 21, 2024

Instagram is a great place to build a community and advertise your services, but it is also perfect to relax and enjoy high-quality content. These different activities seem mutually exclusive, but they work here. All you have to do is try to keep your business and pleasure separate.

This is why many business owners have separate Instagram accounts to ensure that balance is kept. The only problem with that setup is that you have to juggle from one account to the other.

Some people handle this by having their work accounts logged in on their PCs and leaving their personal accounts on their phones. Others get by with cloning applications that allow two instances of the Instagram app to exist on the same phone.

Those options are stressful and limiting, which is why Instagram now has the option of adding an account to your Instagram app. You can have up to five accounts logged in on the same phone for you to simply juggle at your convenience.

We’ll show you how to add accounts to your Instagram app, and how to switch between them quickly.

How to Add an Instagram Account

Before talking about switching accounts on Instagram, you should know how to add them to the app. Here’s how it’s done:

Method 1

  • Open your Instagram app and tap on the profile photo at the bottom right of the screen to get to your profile.
  • Tap on the hamburger menu icon at the top right of the screen. This will open the profile menu.
  • Tap on “Settings and Privacy” then scroll to the bottom of the page.
  • Tap on “Add account”
  • Tap on “Login to existing account”
  • Enter the username and password of the account you want to add.
  • Tap on “Log in”.

Method 2

  • Get to your profile through the profile photo at the bottom right of the screen.
  • Tap on your username at the top left. This will bring up a popup menu.
  • Tap on “Add account.”
  • Click on “Login to existing account”
  • Enter the username and password of the account you want to add.
  • Tap on “Log in”.

By the end of these steps, you should have added a new account to your Instagram app.

How to Switch Between Instagram Accounts

With the second account now on your Instagram app, you might be wondering how to switch between them. It’s quite easy, and we’ll show you how it’s done.

  • Get to your profile.
  • Tap on your username at the top left side of the screen. This will open a popup menu with a list of accounts currently logged in on the device.
  • Select the one you want to switch to, and it’s done.

Now that you know how to switch between accounts, it’s best that you don’t fall for the mistake of forgetting which one you’re logged on. This might make you comment wrongly on a post and harm your brand image.

With all your accounts on the same phone, it gives you the freedom to make changes on the fly and boost your post engagements. This can make the difference between an active community and a stale one. Good luck!
