How to Turn on Profile Views on TikTok

Published August 7, 2024

TikTok has taken the world by storm with its short-form video content. This format was so popular that platforms like Instagram and X have scrambled to create their versions of TikTok’s offering to varied levels of success.

Despite that success, the platform has continuously evolved to meet the demands of its users. One highly sought-after feature has finally been introduced, and that is the Profile Views feature. This lets you see people who have visited your profile in recent days.

This feature offers a new layer of insight into audience engagement.

Understanding Profile View History

TikTok’s Profile View History allows users to see who has visited their profile within the last 30 days. It’s important to note that this feature is opt-in, meaning you need to actively enable it to see who has viewed your profile.

This only works for users who have this feature turned on for their accounts, as you can’t see when someone who has opted out from the feature visits your account.

How to Turn on Profile View History

There are a few different ways to access and enable the Profile View History setting on TikTok. Here’s a breakdown of each method:

Method 1: From Your Profile

  1. Open the TikTok app and navigate to your profile.
  2. Tap on the hamburger menu icon in the top right corner to access the menu.
  3. Select “Settings and privacy.”
  4. Choose “Privacy,” then swipe down and tap on “Profile views.”
  5. Toggle the “Profile view history” switch to the on position. With this, you’ll see all the visitors to your profile in the last 30 days.

Method 2: From Your Inbox

  1. Open the TikTok app and go to your inbox.
  2. Tap on “Activities.” In the Activities screen, look for a notification indicating that someone has viewed your profile.
  3. Tap on that notification to access your Profile View History.
  4. From here, you can also turn the Profile view history setting on or off by tapping on the gear or settings icon at the top right.

Method 3: From the Profile Views Section

  1. Open the TikTok app and navigate to your profile.
  2. Tap on the “Profile views” button, usually located at the top of your profile page. Depending on your app version, it could look like an eye or two feet.
  3. You can then access your view history and toggle the Profile view history setting on or off.

Important Considerations

  • Age and Follower Restrictions: The Profile View History feature is currently available to users over 16 years old with fewer than 5,000 followers.
  • Data Privacy: Be mindful that enabling Profile View History means others can also see if you’ve viewed their profile, provided they have the feature enabled.

Maximizing the Benefits of Profile Views

Understanding who is interested in your content can provide valuable insights. With this information, you can determine what denomination of users to tailor your content to for the best effects.

By following these steps, you can effectively utilize TikTok’s Profile View History feature to gain a better understanding of your audience and enhance your overall TikTok experience.
