Social Media Growth: Is It Safe to Buy TikTok Followers?

Published August 11, 2023

With TikTok’s rapid surge in popularity, everyone has realized the app’s vast potential for advertising. Offering anyone in the world access to hundreds of millions of users, the platform is a true goldmine for anyone who wants to make it big.

So, it comes as no surprise that many users opt to buy TikTok followers. It is a quick and seemingly efficient solution, especially considering how long organic growth can take.

But is purchasing followers safe? And does it translate into actual engagement for an account? Let’s find out!

How Do You Buy TikTok Followers?

Although it might seem like a complex matter, buying followers is actually quite simple. You just need to find a site or platform that sells them and pick a package that suits your needs and budget.

Now, there are hundreds of sites to choose from. Some of them indeed look like professional marketing agency platforms. However, others seem a bit too sketchy for comfort.

Most users who have already bought followers say that telling scammers apart from authentic sellers is often difficult. All sites claim that their followers are genuine and truly active and that the payment system is safe and secure, but it is up to you to discover which ones are telling the truth (more on that a bit later).

Besides the danger from scammers and sketchy sellers, you also have to think about TikTok and its guidelines when buying followers. After all, many social media platforms explicitly forbid their users from such practices.

In this regard, we have good news. Namely, nothing in TikTok’s Terms of Service says that users aren’t allowed to buy followers. Thus, compared to other social media platforms, you don’t run the risk of getting banned or losing your account if you make such a purchase.

However — there is a catch. TikTok regularly scans its user database to terminate accounts that appear to be bots or are inactive. Unfortunately, the followers that many sites provide usually fall into one of these two categories.

In other words, while TikTok won’t punish you for buying followers, your increased follower count won’t actually last long if you buy from a low-quality site. With time, the platform will get rid of bots one by one, and you’ll end up pretty much right where you started.

Does Buying Followers Equal Real Engagement?

Let us move on to the most important question for all creators: will buying followers really make you more popular on TikTok? Well, the answer depends on the seller you go for.

As we already mentioned, many of the followers you can buy online are bots or inactive accounts, even if a platform claims otherwise. So, when you post a video, you won’t see increased engagement from your purchased followers.

Although this might not seem like a big issue, it can actually hurt your overall standing on the app. For instance, the TikTok algorithm might notice that you have a bunch of followers but none of them like your videos. As a result, the app might assume your content is simply not good enough.

However, there is another possible scenario. If you opt for a trustworthy seller, buying real TikTok followers can indeed be an effective growth strategy. Followers from genuine accounts will engage with your content, so the algorithm will recognize its quality easily. That could, in turn, increase your chances of appearing on the For You Page.

Safety Tips for Buying TikTok Followers

To find a reliable website, it’s essential to do extensive research before settling for any seller. For example, you can browse different forums and online groups to get a glimpse into other users’ experiences buying TikTok followers from certain platforms. That way, you’ll be able to avoid getting scammed or falling victim to fraud.

In addition, you should keep in mind that authentic followers always come at a higher price. So, if you run into a website that offers low rates for a high number of followers and has a sketchy website, it might be best to look elsewhere.
